Mercedes-AMG has revealed a new special edition GT 63 to coincide with the upcoming motion picture F1, starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. It’s called – deep breath – the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ APXGP Edition.
Limited to 52 examples worldwide, the car is said to take inspiration from the film’s fictional APXGP Formula 1 team. It was unveiled at the Miami Grand Prix as part of a wider promotional campaign by Mercedes-AMG, which supported the film's production with cars, tech and team expertise.
The film intends to bring a rare degree of motorsport authenticity to the big screen. It was shot during actual Formula 1 race weekends, with cars running on track between official sessions and new camera systems developed specifically to capture the action at speed. Seven-time world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton serves as executive producer.

While the film pushes boundaries, the APXGP Edition remains mechanically unchanged from the standard GT 63 4MATIC+, meaning a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 585bhp, mated to all-wheel drive and AMG’s active ride control suspension. Notably, it’s based on the regular GT 63 and not the more track-focused GTR Pro – making the car more silver screen than Silver Arrow.
Visually, it leans heavily into black-and-gold detailing with more than a hint of John Player Special about it. The body is finished in a bespoke livery with race gold accents on the grille, skirts, diffuser and 21-inch forged wheels. A carbon fibre exterior pack adds further motorsport garnish, including a fixed rear wing.

Inside, the theme continues with gold contrast stitching on black Nappa leather and microfibre, matched to carbon trim threaded with metallic gold. The APXGP logo features on the floor mats, while a “Limited Edition 1 of 52” badge is fitted to the centre console.
As expected for a car pitched more as collector’s item than driver’s car, the equipment list is longer than a movie credits roll: ceramic brakes, panoramic glass roof, active aerodynamics, AMG Track Pace telemetry, a 1,170-watt Burmester 3D audio system and a head-up display are all standard. AMG’s full driver assist suite is also included, along with ‘Energising’ cabin scent control and an edition-specific indoor car cover.
Mercedes-AMG has not yet revealed any pricing for the car, nor which specific markets it will be sold in – beyond confirming that 52 examples will be produced. The film, however, is confirmed to reach British cinemas on 25 June, with IMAX® on the options list.
