Much like the N e-Shift system found on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, Porsche’s E-shift makes gearchanges felt through the drivetrain, and will not change up if the driver hits the rev limiter. The technology is standard on the Taycan Turbo GT saloon, and optionally available for all other model variants. It requires the Sport Chrono Package and either the Bose or Burmester surround sound system to be selected alongside it, with pricing still yet to be confirmed at the time of writing.

A new driving sound comes with E-shift, playing a V8-inspired tone through the internal speakers and the external sound generator. Pressing a dedicated steering wheel button activates the E-shift functionality, but whether the shift characteristics alter between drive modes remains to be seen. There’s also no word on whether the paddles can be used to adjust energy recovery levels when the car is in its automatic shifting mode.
As well as improving driver engagement, the 2027 Porsche Taycan model year updates enhance the infotainment system with revised graphics and a simplified user interface. Customisable widgets can be configured, split-screen apps can be run, and a 3D model of the car in its actual exterior colour is presented within the vehicle settings menu. The new system – known as Porsche Digital Interaction – features an improved AI-powered voice assistant, over-the-air update functionality, and a 25W wireless charging pad.

A new tyre option is introduced for the 2027MY Taycan, with lower rolling resistance offering a 12-mile range boost for the rear-wheel drive variants, although Porsche has chosen not to reveal the supplier. This boosts the maximum WLTP range for the entry-level Taycan saloon up to 435 miles between charges. The 800-volt electrical architecture remains unchanged, allowing for 10–80% top-ups at DC rapid charging stations in as little as 18 minutes.
The previously announced Manthey Kit is now available to order for the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package. The kit – the most comprehensive Manthey upgrade to date – includes an extreme aerodynamics package that more than triples peak downforce, a power bump to 979bhp with Attack Mode engaged, revised suspension, and lightweight wheels shod in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS rubber. It’s already proven its worth at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where factory driver Lars Kern lapped the 12.94-mile circuit in 6:55.553 minutes – setting the production EV lap record and bettering Kern’s own previous benchmark by 12 seconds. The kit can be retrofitted to all existing Weissach Package-equipped Taycan Turbo GTs, or specified as part of a new car order. Prices for the new optional equipment have yet to be confirmed.
