Subaru WRX GD25 Goes Blue and Gold With Legit Rally Wing

Last week Nissan tugged at the nostalgia strings with the Z Kaze concept. This week, it’s Subaru’s turn – and unlike Nissan’s effort, the WRX GD25 and BRZ ZC15 are both headed for production.

Revealed at Boxerfest 2026, the two models commemorate 25 years of WRX sales in the US and 15 years of the BRZ respectively, while the preceding letters nod to the original chassis codes.

The GD25 is the main event. Just 350 will be made, all finished in World Rally Blue with gold-painted 19-inch alloys. Perched atop the boot is a dry carbon fibre swan-neck wing from Subaru Tecnica International – as fitted to Travis Pastrana’s WRX ARA25L competition car.

Stiffer springs and revised damper calibration work alongside Bridgestone Potenza S007 tyres to deliver what Subaru calls ‘more composed, confident cornering’, while a flexible strut tower bar sits under the bonnet. The Brembo braking system is also uprated over the regular WRX, with signature gold callipers making their return, although the exact changes haven’t been specified.

Subaru has left the engine unchanged, with the familiar turbocharged 2.4-litre flat-four producing 271bhp and 258lb ft, driving all four wheels through its Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. Every GD25 is manual-only, with an STI short shifter fitted as standard.

Inside, Recaro front seats combine black Ultrasuede inserts with red contrast stitching, while an STI gearknob completes the relatively subtle interior makeover.

Changes to the BRZ ZC15 mainly fall into the cosmetic category. 300 examples are scheduled for production, all Ceramic White paired with matte bronze wheels, gold Brembo callipers and bronze graphics along the lower body. Subaru says the combination takes its cue from the white-and-bronze BRZ tS offered in the US in 2020.

A black lip spoiler garnishes the rear, while a flexible V-bar is fitted under the bonnet. As with the WRX, there is no increase in engine output: the naturally aspirated 2.4-litre flat-four produces 228bhp and sends its power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual and STI short shifter. No suspension revisions or tyre upgrades have been announced.

The interior combines black leather upholstery with Bordeaux red inserts that are unique to the ZC15, along with an STI aluminium and leather gearknob and an anniversary plaque carrying the ZC15 name.

The order books for both models are due to open before the end of 2026. The BRZ ZC15 will arrive first in early 2027, followed by the WRX GD25 in the summer. Pricing and further specifications will be announced closer to launch.
