The hot Corsa is back, and uses electric power for the first time. The GSE becomes the most powerful Corsa ever made, with its front-mounted electric motor developing 277bhp and 254lb-ft (345Nm) of torque. With its kerb weight of 1,554kg, the car is relatively light for an EV boasting a power-to-weight ratio of 177bhp per tonne. 0-62mph is dealt with in 5.5 seconds, and the car can reach a top speed of 112mph.

The straight-line performance has the edge over both the Alpine A290 GTS and the Mini e-JCW, but the hot Corsa has another hardware advantage when the going gets twisty. A Torsen limited-slip differential is fitted to the front axle, allowing for proper mechanical torque vectoring between the wheels. The set-up is shared with other hot EVs in the Stellantis family, and from our experience with the Abarth 600e, it works a treat.

The Corsa GSE receives a suspension overhaul, with a lower ride height, new axles, anti-roll bars, and shock absorbers. Four-piston Alcon callipers are fitted to the front axle, providing strong stopping power in conjunction with the motor’s regenerative braking. Vauxhall also confirms steering and pedal calibration specific to the high-performance model.

Between the axles is a 51kWh usable capacity battery, fitted with revised temperature management software. The maximum WLTP range is yet to be confirmed, but we expect it to mirror the Lancia Ypsilon HF’s 230 miles. Using 100kW DC rapid charging, a 10-80% top-up should be completed within half an hour.

Visually, the GSE is differentiated from the standard Corsa with a new bodykit. Widened arches contain Nova GTE-inspired three-spoke 18” alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, with neon yellow callipers behind. The new front bumper incorporates a honeycomb lower grille and pronounced splitter, while a roof-mounted spoiler and revised bumper and diffuser are found at the rear. Black badging features at both ends and GSE lettering is presented on the doors, but there’s no GSE badge to be found on the bootlid.

Inside, the Corsa gains two-piece cloth/Alcantara bucket seats with a grey and yellow checked design. Yellow contrast stitching is found throughout the cabin, and the seatbelts take on the same bright hue. The steering wheel and door cards feature Alcantara cladding, and new aluminium pedals are fitted.

GSE-specific graphics feature on both the digital displays, with the central infotainment screen presenting real-time performance data. G-force measurement, acceleration timing and torque management can all be shown on the 10” touchscreen. Smartphone integration will feature as standard, as well as a reversing camera, keyless entry and start, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

Full UK pricing and specification details for the new Vauxhall Corsa GSE are set to be announced in the coming weeks, with assembly beginning at Stellantis’ Zaragoza factory in the near-future. RUSH understands this will coincide with the start of production of the new Peugeot e-208 GTi. Deliveries can be expected in the second half of 2026.
