After eight years on sale, the G29 Z4 will soon depart the BMW model range. Sending it off is the Final Edition trim, which can be added to all engine variants - the 2.0-litre 20i and 30i, alongside the range-topping M40i. No engineering changes have been made for the limited-run variant, but it will gain unique cosmetic touches.
Shadowline exterior trim darkens the grille, lights, and exhaust tips, with the M40i also gaining black bumper inserts and roll hoops. Frozen Matt Black paint joins the Z4 range for the first time, while a choice of solid and metallic finishes are available as no-cost options. Behind the wheels, the usually blue brake callipers turn to red.

Red accents are visible within the two-seat cabin, as contrast stitching features on the leather/Alcantara seats and door cards. The multifunction steering wheel features a leather centre, surrounded by an alcantara rim. Each Z4 Final Edition gains commemorative metal sill plates with the model name engraved.
In the UK, the Z4 is available with two powertrains at present. The 20i uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine generating 194bhp and 236lb-ft (320Nm) of torque, sending this to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The M40i is powered by a 3.0-litre straight-six developing 335bhp and 369lb-ft (500Nm), and comes with the option of an automatic or six-speed manual gearbox with the Handschalter Package.

The Z4 Final Edition has not yet been confirmed for the UK market, but BMW has said that a “short order window” for the send-off model will open in January 2026. The last models will be built by Magna Steyr in March 2026.
Although it outlasted its closest rivals - the Audi TT and Mercedes-Benz SLK/SLC - the Z4 will retire from the model range after 24 years, with no direct successor planned.
