The GTi treatment goes beyond a power bump, with the E-208 gaining a 31mm rear anti-roll bar to complement the existing 17mm unit at the front, unique springs and dampers with hydraulic bump stops all round, and red four-piston brake calipers gripping 355mm discs on the front axle. The body has been lowered by 25mm overall, and the track widened by 56mm and 28mm at the front and rear respectively. New 205 GTi-inspired teledial wheels sit within the flared arches, with a choice of compounds for the 215/40 R18 tyres.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber comes as standard and gives the E-208 GTi a WLTP range of up to 219 miles, while Hankook Ventus S1 Evo3 tyres are the alternative no-cost option that prioritise range, boosting it to 233 miles. Regardless of the tyre choice, the car is powered by a 51kWh usable capacity battery. This can be recharged with a home wallbox in 4 hours and 40 minutes, or from 20-80% in 27 minutes using a 100kW DC rapid charger. Vehicle to load functionality allows the car to power external devices through an adapter.
The battery features a new thermal management system to allow for maximum performance over prolonged periods, with a revised coolant flow depending on temperature. Subtle visual tweaks are found around the E-208 GTi, with widened side sills, a new front splitter and rear diffuser, LED rear fog light and red accents setting the model apart from the standard 208.

Seven exterior colours will be available, while the interior is a black and red affair. Two-piece seats feature up front, with red contrast striping and the model name stitched into them. A 208 GTi badge features on the perforated leather/Alcantara steering wheel, and GTi-specific carpets and mats all come in red. A dual-screen infotainment system sits atop the dashboard with the central 10” touchscreen angled towards the driver, and aluminium pedals feature in the driver’s footwell.
Wireless charging, a six-speaker audio system, eight-colour ambient lighting, rear privacy glass and automatic LED headlights with high beam assist are among the standard features for UK-bound E-208 GTis, with six of the seven exterior colours and a glass sunroof being cost options. The UK starting price of £34,995 has been confirmed, but this may fall if the model is eligible for the UK government grant. Order books are set to open in the coming weeks, coinciding with the related Vauxhall Corsa GSE going on sale. Production will soon commence at Stellantis’ Zaragoza factory, and Peugeot’s first hot hatch in six years will hit UK roads later this year.
