RML Group has taken the wraps off its first completed GT Hypercar at Salon Privé. Developed under the internal codename P39, the GTH takes a 992 Turbo S as its base and re-imagines it as a contemporary 996 GT1.
Billed by RML as the “ultimate GT”, the conversion is centred around a full carbon-fibre body, a lengthened wheelbase and wider track, with performance said to comfortably eclipse the current GT3 RS. The P39 originally made its public dynamic debut at Supercar Fest in May, where RML claimed the prototype generated more than 6,500N of downforce in Track mode at 150mph – compared with the Turbo S’s 1,432N.

Key to this are the GTH’s active aerodynamics, comprising a twin-element rear wing with Road and Track settings, a driver-operated DRS, and a front splitter that extends 75mm in Track mode to sharpen turn-in. Air curtains, vented arches and an under-body diffuser complete a makeover designed to deliver GT-level downforce while remaining road-compliant. It must be said, the conversion looks the part – the P39 could’ve rolled straight out of the Zuffenhausen factory gates and onto the lawns of Blenheim Palace.
In order to exploit the downforce, the chassis features new suspension links, bespoke top mounts and secondary springs that increase wheel rates in Track mode. Adaptive dampers co-developed with R53 offer three settings to toggle through, while a four-corner hydraulic lift system allows multiple ride-height options, from clearing speed bumps to kerb-hopping. The Turbo’s rear-wheel steering and hydraulic roll control have also been recalibrated for the car’s altered dimensions.

Power comes from a twin-turbocharged flat-six from the 992 Turbo S, extensively re-engineered in partnership with Litchfield Motors. Hardware changes include new turbochargers and intercoolers, revised manifolds, and a bespoke Inconel exhaust system featuring the largest exhaust valve ever fitted to a road-going flat-six. The result is 920bhp and more than 737lb-ft (1000Nm) of torque in Sport and Sport+ modes, with two additional presets delivering 750bhp in Normal mode and 600bhp in Wet mode. Although the car is yet to visit the Nürburgring, RML has projected a 6min 45sec lap time based on its simulations.
The Salon Privé debut car is the first of ten 40th Anniversary Special Editions, combining both Performance and Track Packs. It is finished in Storm Purple with a tinted carbon roof and bonnet, gold centre-lock wheels and gold-painted badging. Inside, Crayon seatbelts and stitching are paired with carbon inlays finished in body colour and a Storm Purple half cage in place of the rear seats.

The P39 name reflects its status as RML’s 39th car programme since the company’s founding in 1984. Known recently for its Ferrari 550-based Short Wheelbase, RML also operates as an engineering consultancy, having contributed to projects such as the NIO EP9 EV hypercar, which briefly held the Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record. First UK customer deliveries of the GTH are due in late summer 2025, with sales and aftercare agents appointed in Europe and the US.
RML is not alone in revisiting the GT1 formula. Oxfordshire-based Tuthill is developing its own GT-One project – also inspired by Porsche’s late-1990s homologation specials – highlighting the growing marketplace for endurance-racing DNA stitched into limited-run road cars.
