Genesis Confirms GV60 Magma, Previews Supercar and Hot Estate

Shown for the first time in production guise, the 641bhp GV60 Magma will launch Genesis’ high-performance road car offensive.

Shown for the first time in production guise, the 641bhp GV60 Magma will launch Genesis’ high-performance road car offensive.
Based on the same e-GMP platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5N and Kia EV6 GT, the GV60 Magma employs the same dual-motor powertrain that delivers 600bhp and 546lb-ft (740Nm) of torque. With Boost Mode activated, this rises to 641bhp and 583lb-ft (790Nm) for 15 seconds. The car accelerates from 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds, reaches 124 after 10.9 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 164mph.
The car has a rear-biased output split, with the more powerful rear motor featuring an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. The chassis has been overhauled compared to the standard GV60, with adaptive suspension, new bushings, and enlarged brake discs sitting within Magma-specific 21” wheels.

The car sits lower than standard, features widened wheel arches, and new bumpers at both ends. A functional rear wing sits at the base of the sloping tailgate, adding downforce at high speeds. The car gets an interior makeover too, with two-piece bucket seats, dark surfaces with checked detailing, and magma orange highlights.
The steering wheel features shortcuts for changing the driving mode, and activating overboost. Behind the rim are paddles that can be used for adjusting energy recovery levels, or activating the Virtual Gear Shift system which emulates a multi-speed transmission.

The new Genesis GV60 Magma will be powered by an 84kWh capacity battery, using an 800-volt electrical architecture. While the WLTP range is yet to be confirmed, expect around 270 miles between top-ups. The first road-going Genesis Magma models will go on sale in the UK in 2026.
If the GV60 is the starting point for the Magma performance brand, the GT Concept previews the destination. The supercar is instantly recognisable as part of the Genesis family with its parallel light strips at both ends, but it brings butterfly doors, clamshell bodywork, and proper mid-engined theatre to the range.

The concept is reported to house the 3.2-litre twin-turbocharged V8, used in the GMR-001 prototype beginning competition in the FIA World Endurance Championship from 2026. The car has been designed with GT3 regulations and competition in mind, meaning that a certain number of road cars would have to be produced and sold in order for it to race.
The reveal of the GT Concept also goes some way to explaining why Hyundai had been testing mid-engined prototypes over the last few years. It’s not difficult to imagine the elegant shape of the mid-engined supercar playing host to a race-spec splitter, dive-planes, a large fixed wing at the rear, and being adorned with sponsor logos.

Joining the GV60 and GT Concept at the Genesis Magma Day event is the G90 Wingback. Like 2024’s X Gran Coupé and Convertible concepts, the Wingback is based on the G90 saloon - a large executive saloon available in select markets. Nicknamed Dr Evil Genesis by its maker and accompanied by a 1:8 scale ‘Mini-Me’ model at its launch, the concept is intent on world domination, beginning with the fast estate segment.
The coachbuilt model features a performance-minded splitter and sill extensions, enlarged alloy wheels, and tastefully flared wheel arches. At the rear, the parallel lights are complemented by parallel wings, with a high-level spoiler sitting above a ducktail that protrudes from the tailgate.
While no powertrain details - or concrete production plans - have been confirmed, the concept’s positioning as an RS 6 rival is made clear by its understated yet purposeful styling, and its pair of oval exhaust tips flanking a large diffuser.
Having been previewed by a range of concepts over the last few years, the Genesis Magma sub-brand completes the trio of high-performance offerings within the Hyundai Motor Group. So far, Hyundai’s N models have majored on driver engagement, while Kia GT models have been more relaxed, yet still capable. Where the hot Genesis models will fit in on the spectrum remains to be seen, but the ingredients that form the GV60, and the brand’s long-term commitment to motorsport suggest that Magma will hit the ground running.
